If Pinterest were a man, I'd marry him. He makes me laugh (with funny quotes or little kid photos), inspires me to do better (by giving me helpful hints about all areas of life), loves to cook and makes me salivate, isn't afraid of marriage, and helps keep me organized.
On the real, it's pretty great. I have a makeup board and it would be beneficial if you followed me on Pinterest. My user name is "Christina Carew."
Here is a pin I'd like to share today: (if you want the source, please find it on my Pinterest)
Use a business card, cut out a winged line shape and use that as a stencil for creating perfectly symmetrical winged eyes. So easy, cheap, and #blay.

Voluminous Hair
My straightening iron broke so all I had was my blow dryer, curling iron, and rollers to work with. I had a hot date later with a duck taco, so I needed to make sure I looked good. For the record, the duck taco was quite disappointing and didn't deserve all my efforts :( lol

Subtle Eye Trick
Here's a quick and easy trick for accentuating your eye makeup.
Dab a light color concealer or white/beige pencil right along the side of/under your makeup. Blend it a tad, and voila. Your dark makeup will stand out as sharper and cleaner against the contrasting light color. Can you see it in my pic?

Winged Eye How-to
This was a special request, but I knew many girls were wondering the same thing: how do you get your liner to look so good? I'll show you how below... But first here are a few more q&a's.
Q. What liner should I use?
A. Any one that you'd like. They all have their benefits. A liquid liner will give you a perfectionist, sharp look while a pencil might be easier to work with at first. Whatever you do, work the
Liner as close to your lashes as you can. That should look good no matter what liner you choose.
Q. Why doesn't my liner last?
A. Im going to assume you use a pencil or cream liner... You should always cover a wet with a dry. Sooo go over your liner with an angled brush and matching eyeshadow to make your look have staying power. Even if you're dancing (sweating) the night away.
Q. What if both sides don't match perfectly?
A. This is tricky for everyone! Get them as close as you can then just be done with it. Makeup is supposed to be fun and not to sound rude...but no one but you is going to know if your left eye wing is angled at 52* and your right one is 55*. Once you get some mascara on and start enjoying your night no one will know. Who just sits perfectly upright at a bar with their head balanced just so? No one!
On another note I am convinced people's eye shapes are a little different too. I can never get my left and right perfectly symmetrical and matched because they are a little different. (the same goes for eyebrows: they're sisters, not twins.) Would any of you have known that unless I told you? Probably not :)
Q. What if I can't do it?
A. Practice makes perfect! Don't try this for the first time ten minutes before work or before a first date... Do it when you have some time to work with or before a date night with your boyfriend of 7 months (you're probably going to break up soon anyway. Wait... That doesn't happen to everyone? Just me? Sorry, never mind)
Worst case scenario is you wipe it off and try again. Or... You can always hire me to do it ;)

Vanity Organization
Ever find yourself spending more time finding a product than actually using it? I did and I like to sleep so I knew I had to organize my makeup to allow easy and quick access.
On top of my makeup desk, I have a little tray set up to collect all the random makeup. The tray is actually a mirror from the dollar store. The tan holders were gifts for Christmas and were intended to be office supplies. They now hold Mac fix+, brushes, and lip products. I also used the silver cap to one of the MAC holiday sets to hold eyeliners.
Have any events coming up that you'd like your makeup done for? Check out my rates and email me at misscarew@gmail.com.

Bees in a Trap
I had to zoom in on my pic from the other night to highlight my fine makeup artistry. (This still doesn't do it justice because it was taken from my iPhone.) This look was for chaperoning prom, one of my favorite events every year... Even though I graduated years ago.
After Prom, my co-worker friend and I decided to hit the town. Best. Decision. Ever. We were introduced to guys left and right! To use a phrase from a song... We had the guys buzzing like "bees in a trap." There are several reasons why this could have occurred:
We were two girls alone without guy friends to c block.
We looked mighty fine.
We looked exceptionally hot.
Other girls were dressed in jeans, sneakers, and T-shirts.
The d to v ratio was high.
My makeup skills transformed me into a goddess for the night...?
This look is achieved with Mac pigments. Gorge.

Lovely day for a Prom...
This lovely young lady attended Notre Dame of Fairfield's Prom last night, 5/17/12.
Face: Her skin is practically flawless so I used some concealer under the eyes and used MAC's Matte Bronze as a powder.
Eyes: She requested a smoky eye and we incorporated some purple into it too. I used MAC's Shore Leave, which is a shimmer pink, on the inner corners and beneath the brow. I used a MAC shimmerstick as a base. In the crease I added a NYX purple and a NYX grey and ultimately cut in MAC's Carbon (a matte black.)
Cheeks: She is wearing a cream pink MAC blush with a coral MAC powder blush on top.
Lips: MAC's Angel lipstick and NYX's baby lipgloss.
She transformed from looking like a fresh faced teenage girl, to a mature young lady attending her Senior Prom. Good Luck with your future studies!

First Prom Makeup 2012
My brother's prom was last night and his girlfriend asked me to do her makeup for the event. Her dress was a royal/sapphire blue mermaid style gem. It was gorge on her!
For her makeup, I lined her outer eyes in a sapphire blue and the inner rims in a sparkly silver. I exaggerated the liner to form a cat eye. The rest of the shadow was simple with MAC's Cork in the crease and a nude shade on her lids. I added false lashes too. With some peach blush and MAC's angel lipstick, she looked like a barbie!
I hope they both had an awesome night!

BB Garnier Facial Moisturizer
Have you been looking for a face moisturizer that has a hint of tan and SPF? Look no further because I have found the perfect product. Garnier makes a product called "Miracle Skin Perfector" which provides SPF 20 and doesn't develop a tan over time, but immediately is noticeable. Think of it as a tinted moisturizer. (But I still wear it to bed too). I haven't noticed any rub off any my clothing or sheets. I would assume if you have white sheets, you may notice the moisturizer rub off. Look at the pictures below to see how much I use every application and see how the moisturizer provides coverage too.
I chose the one for medium to dark skin tones... Even though I'm light skinned. If you want to notice the tan, choose the dark shade. Just blend it on the neck and décolletage for an unnoticeable transition.
I bought this at Walgreens for about $12 and used a $1 off coupon that Walgreens provided right near the product.
Let me know if you try this product... Or have you found another similar product?

October Bride
In October 2011, I did makeup for 2 bridal parties. This bride just sent me professional shots from the wedding day and I am grateful to have these to share with you. The bride requested a natural look with hints of eggplant. She also went without lip color to please hubby's request! I suppose that's what marriage is all about. Lip color or not, this bride looked amazing!
I had an assistant, Bianca, this day who did some of the bridesmaids and the mother of the groom. Everyone looked stunning and well put together!
If you're interested in hiring makeup services for your bridal party, please contact me.
Also, feel free to browse the gallery and rates tab at the top.
Congratulations, Ashley and Chris!
This is my favorite pic!
Gorgeous!

Spruce up your soup
Campbell's chicken noodle soup is mm mmm good, but it's not always enough to fill me up. Maybe that's just the big girl within speaking, but I'm just being honest. It takes more than a few noodles and pea sized bits of chicken to be considered a meal. I add my own pre-cooked Perdue chicken in small pieces. Then if I have carrots or celery on hand, I cut those up and add those in for color, texture, and freshness. Mostly I include them just because it's more food. Hehe
PS. If you're on a budget like me, look for Campbell's soup at your Dollar Tree. They have a lot of brand name foods for just one dollar. (check for dates)
